What is User Experience (UX)?

Person drawing a UX customer journey
UX (User Experience) is essentially the journey and how a person feels as they navigate through a system. UX shapes the customer’s perception of the service, product, or company through UX design. UX design includes brand, fonts, colors, layouts, and so on.

Why is UX Important?

Since UX is a customer’s journey through a system, UX tries to fulfill their needs as they venture through that system. It tries to create positive experiences for the customer to keep them loyal to a product or brand. For example, if your website is not optimized, users will have a negative experience; thus leaving your site and never coming back. Think of your website as a digital representation of your store; if a customer walks in and can’t find what they’re looking for, they’re going to walk away. For most customers, you’ll only get one chance to get it right.

How to Build a Successful UX?

1. Figure Out Your Target Audience

2. Build your system for the User

3. Keep it Simple and Make it Easy to Navigate

4. Ask For Different Opinions

5. Test! Test! Test!
