Role: Website Developer and Communications Strategist
Deliverables: Create an election campaign website with full branding, introduce Matthew to Imperial Beach and its constituency.
The Outcome: Matthew Leyba-Gonzalez successfully won the City Council election with 63% of the votes.
Our client, Matthew Leyba-Gonzalez, was a relatively unknown person in the city of Imperial Beach. We were tasked with creating a website and communications strategy that would introduce Matthew to constituents ahead of the election.
Since Matthew was a first time candidate, we started with an in-depth conversation with him to better understand his goals, priorities, and personality to reflect that on his branding and website. We created a website that focused on introducing him to people, his background, and his goals for the city of Imperial Beach. Since Matthew is a proud member of the Laborer’s International Union of North America (LiUNA!), we wanted to reflect that commitment to the labor community by using the orange color in his website while also reflecting his Democratic values, and his responsibility and loyalty with his community by using dark blue. Mixing these two colors together, we were able to create a modern looking website that distinguished him from other Imperial Beach candidates.
We created a modern and unique campaign website that Imperial Beach residents could use to learn more about Matthew’s candidacy. Matthew went on to win the race with more than 63% of the votes.
